Import of pit bull terriers is banned, as is any other dog the Chief Veterinary Officer deems a 'ferocious dog' (Anguilla Dog Act) — an open-ended criterion, not reducible to a closed breed list. Such a dog is liable to be seized and forfeited to the Crown unless the owner proves to the Chief Veterinary Officer that the dog is not a pit bull terrier and not 'ferocious'.

All cats and dogs must be vaccinated for rabies between 30 days and 12 months prior to entering Anguilla for primary vaccinations. Puppies and kittens should not be vaccinated for rabies prior to three months of age.
Pet dogs and cats entering Anguilla with their owners will require an import permit from the Department of Agriculture, and the application should be submitted more than 14 days prior to travel. The permit is valid for 30 days.
