Bermuda sets its own requirements for bringing in dogs and cats. From any departure country your pet needs import permit, microchip, rabies vaccination, parasite treatment and veterinary health certificate. The rules are the same for dogs and cats.

Microchip+

The chip must be readable by a standard reader: ISO, FECAVA, European/International or AVID-USA will do. Bermuda does not insist on ISO 11784/11785 — the American AVID chip is accepted too, which is a rare concession: most countries require strict ISO.

Dogs or cats must have had two vaccinations for rabies, one after the age of 3 months and the other between 6 and 12 months after the first vaccination. The primary vaccination must be given not less than 30 days and not more than 12 months

Tests and treatments

Parasite treatment+

The tick treatment is given by the vet DURING the examination for the certificate — it has no separate window in hours, it is tied to the examination itself. The product must have residual activity against a variety of ticks, and its name goes into the veterinary statement. Dispensing the product to the owner is not acceptable: the treatment counts only if the vet applied it.

Bermuda lists what is NOT accepted: Advantage®, Advocate®, Bio-Spot®, Capstar®, Comfortis®, Credelio for Cats®, NexGard Combo for Cats®, Revolution®, Promeris® for Cats, Provecta-II for Cats®, selamectin, Sentinel®, Vectra®, plus shampoos and collars.
