Iraq sets its own requirements for bringing in dogs and cats. From any departure country your pet needs microchip, rabies vaccination, additional vaccination, parasite treatment, veterinary health certificate and import permit. The rules are the same for dogs and cats.

The pet must be at least 3 months old.
Notify the airport veterinary quarantine of the pet's arrival at least 5 days in advance.
If documents are incomplete or the animal is unwell — quarantine of at least 15 days or return to the country of departure at the owner's expense.

A microchip is required: its number is entered in the veterinary certificate and the vaccination record.
Rabies vaccination at least 30 days and no more than 11 months before entry. Iraqi law allows up to a year, but the common requirement is stricter — plan for 11 months.
Dogs need vaccinations against distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus, given at least a month and no more than a year before arrival. Puppies under 4 months get two doses: a month and two weeks before export.
External parasite treatment 2–10 days before export. The product name goes into the certificate.
Original veterinary certificate signed by an authorised veterinarian of the exporting country, no older than 7 days on the import date. It states age, breed, sex, colour and that the animal is healthy.
A permit from Iraq's veterinary service is needed in advance — dogs and cats are not admitted without it.
The order matters more than the list: a step done too early has to be repeated. The intervals come from the same rule fields the engine uses for the earliest departure date.
