Croatia Airlines carries dogs and cats in the cabin up to 8 kg and in the hold. The service is paid: 50 EUR per flight. The pet's place is booked in advance — at least 48 h before departure.

Some countries take no animals at all: United Kingdom. Snub-nosed breeds are not accepted in the hold. A heat limit applies: above 29.4 °C animals are not accepted in the hold. Direct flights reach 22 countries, but flying there and taking a pet are different questions: the destination country has its own entry rules.

The carrier's rule+

The carrier publishes no numeric weight cap for the hold.
Dogs over 18 kg including the container are accepted only in the baggage/cargo compartment (AVIH or AVI) and only in a CR1 or CR82 container: a frame of metal, synthetic materials and welded mesh; rigid plastic is not permitted.
The separate 14 kg rule is not a weight cap but a sharing rule: one container may hold up to 2 adult animals of no more than 14 kg each that are used to one another, or up to 3 puppies or kittens from the same litter of no more than 8 kg each.
A container of up to 125x75x85 cm is possible only on the A319, A320 and A220.
Medium crate 80×55×55 cm — EUR 100 (EU), large 125×75×85 cm — EUR 200.
Booking on the day of departure on international flights from Croatia and Bosnia adds EUR 10.
Fighting breeds (American Bulldog, Caucasian Owtscharka, Dogo Argentino, Karabash, Rottweiler, Doberman) — only in a CR82 container.
Pets are not carried from Croatia to the United Kingdom; from the United Kingdom to Croatia they are, except when departing from London Gatwick.
From Ireland pets are not accepted in the baggage compartment, while to Ireland they are.
On flights OU4001 and OU4002 the hold is currently unavailable for pets.

The carrier publishes no outright breed ban. Brachycephalic animals are not carried in the hold at all: 'Brachycephalic animals … can not be transported in cargo holds' — the cabin is their only option, up to 8 kg with the carrier and 115 cm total dimensions. Named as not acceptable in the baggage compartment: Affenpinscher, Bulldogs of all breeds EXCEPT the American Bulldog, Pugs of all breeds, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bull Mastiff, Bull Terrier, Chow Chow, English Toy Spaniel, Japanese Chin, Lhasa Apso, Pekinese, Pit Bull, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Bull Terrier; cats — British Shorthair, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, Persian, Scottish Fold. A separate list of fighting breeds — American Bulldog, Caucasian Owtscharka, Dogo Argentino, Karabash (Kangal), Rottweiler and Doberman, and their mixes: these ARE carried, but only in an IATA CR82 container (wooden or metal frame bolted together, metal or solid sides and doors, welded mesh front). Dogs over 18 kg including the container are never accepted in the cabin.
