Mahan Air carries dogs and cats in the hold up to 30 kg. The pet's place is booked in advance — at least 48 h before departure.

Direct flights reach 8 countries, but flying there and taking a pet are different questions: the destination country has its own entry rules.

The official page mahanair.co.ir/en/live-animals describes exactly two ways to carry a pet - 'With passenger' (as checked baggage in the hold) and 'As cargo' (domestic flights only, via the cargo terminal on an air waybill).
In-cabin carriage (pet with the owner in the seat) is not mentioned at all, neither as an option nor as a restriction.
Since T0 explicitly lists the available methods and the cabin is not among them, cabin.allowed=false.

T0 (mahanair.co.ir/en/live-animals): the pet travels in the hold of the same flight as the owner, checked in at the counter.
Limit: combined pet + container weight must be 30 kg or less.
Container must be rigid, wheel-free, with absorbent floor padding.
On domestic flights this checked-baggage channel does not operate - only the actual cargo terminal via air waybill (AWB) is available, which is out of scope for our cargo field (see methodology item 2), so cargo.allowed=true effectively applies to international flights.
The fee is an excess-baggage formula, not a fixed figure: pet = (pet weight + container weight) x 2; no fixed number is published, hence fee_estimate=null.
A separate fixed EUR 15 surcharge for Istanbul-to-Tehran (IKA) flights since 2022-12-28 is recorded in fees[]. Not accepted: old, wild, sick animals, reptiles, aquatic animals, rodents and their eggs; pets under 8 weeks old.
Carriage is forbidden on BAE/RJ aircraft types.
Check-in on international flights is required 3 hours before departure.
