Hainan Airlines (海南航空) carries dogs and cats in the cabin up to 5 kg and in the hold up to 32 kg. The service is paid: 1399 CNY per flight. The pet's place is booked in advance — at least 48 h before departure.

Snub-nosed breeds are not accepted in the hold and in the cabin. A separate breed ban applies to 34 breeds. A heat limit applies: above 30 °C animals are not accepted in the hold. Direct flights reach 31 countries, but flying there and taking a pet are different questions: the destination country has its own entry rules.

Domestic China: initially launched in 9 cities (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jinan, Haikou, Qingdao, Xiamen, Hefei, Kashgar, Changsha), booking only via ticket offices/call center at least 24h ahead, not online; max 1 pet per passenger, up to 2 per narrow-body flight.
International cabin is a pilot service on only 3 routes (Beijing-Bangkok, Haikou-Bangkok, direct Haikou-Seoul), booking 48h-7 days ahead, pet insurance included, rabies antibody test required for Korea entry.
The official hnair.com page does not publish the current domestic cabin fee directly - the 1399 CNY figure is confirmed by independent Chinese media (since September 2022, still current 2024-2025), while the ctrip partner page reproduces an outdated 800 CNY figure (2017-2018 pilot-launch tariff).
Brachycephalic and fighting/large breeds are banned (see breed_restrictions).

The list comes from the rules for carrying pets AS CHECKED BAGGAGE — '以下宠物以及与其杂交的品种均不适合航空旅行', 'unsuitable for air travel' — and extends to crosses of the listed breeds. The carrier's cabin programme is separate and runs only from nine cities and on three international routes; it publishes no breed list of its own, so the ban is applied to the rule as a whole. Dangerous breeds: large and medium terriers (Bedlington Terrier, Fox Terrier), Staffordshire Terrier, all boxers, all spaniels, all mastiffs, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa Inu, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, Malinois. The carrier adds a caveat of its own: the restriction covers only LARGE AND MEDIUM terriers, while small and toy terriers (West Highland White Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer and the like) travel normally — which is why the generic 'terriers' line is not carried into the machine-readable field and only the individually named breeds are. Snub-nosed dogs and cats: all bulldogs (French, English), all pugs, Boxer, Cavalier King Charles, Shih Tzu, bull terriers (Bull Terrier, Staffordshire), American Bully, Boston Terrier, Brussels Griffon, Affenpinscher, English cocker, English toy spaniel, Lhasa Apso, Pekingese, Chow Chow, Japanese Chin, Shar Pei; cats — Burmese, Himalayan, Persian, Exotic Shorthair ('Garfield'), British Shorthair. Unsuited to heat and altitude: Samoyed. Separately: the A320NEO and A321NEO do not carry pets at all by aircraft type, and connecting carriage of pets is not arranged — only a single direct sector.
